Sex Guide and SEX Education

Granted, it is also the parents responsibilities to teach their children about the risks of sex, and how to be safe. But, it seems as if sex education in schools has gone to either minimal or non existant. What should be done?

My 9 year old son knows that babies come from mummies tummies and that they're made by egg and sperm, but he's only just got to asking how the sperm gets there…

When I was a kid, I remember my mum sitting down with me and a book with really good illustrations with puppets, but I can't remember what the book was called.

Can anyone recommend a good one for sitting down and reading together?

Also, is it better to do with Mum or with Dad…?
Obviously I don't want to overplay or overdo the details at this stage, but I do feel its important to answer direct questions honestly, even if it is as a gently-worded summary, rather than "I'll tell you when you're older". That would only make him more curious and he'd find out from somewhere I have no control over… and maybe the wrong information!

I need a list of NGO's specializing in sex education, ranging from preventing pregnancies to dealing with parenting issues.

If anyone out there has a list or something that I may use. It is more specifically for Northern Africa.
